What does the homeopath need to know?
In order to find the right remedy I will need to know all about you. Not only do I need to know about your physical symptoms and how you experience them, but also about you as an individual. You will be asked about your emotional states, your likes and dislikes, your sleep and energy and your bodily functions. Also of great relevance are your personal and family medical histories. You will be sent a form for you to fill in prior to your initial consultation which we will discuss during your first appointment.
The first consultation will last approximately 1½ hours and follow up appointments 30-40 minutes. Children’s appointments will be shorter and are charged at a reduced rate. The timing of follow up appointments will vary depending on the case but 4-6 weekly intervals is usual for new cases.
At the follow up consultations you will be asked about how you have responded to the remedy. This information will help me to decide how your treatment is to progress. You may be given a new remedy, continued on the old remedy, sometimes in a different potency, or given no remedy at all. Some people find it helpful to keep a diary between consultations so they can accurately remember how their bodies have responded to treatment.
How long does treatment take ?
This depends very much on the sort of illness you have and how long you have had it. Acute complaints can clear up very quickly and even some long-term illnesses can see an improvement after a short while. Others will take more time and will demand some level of commitment to treatment.
What will the treatment be like?
You will be given a homeopathic remedy to take in the form of a small tablet or liquid. This is sent to you shortly after or during your consultation along with details of how to take it.
Can I continue on my medication?
The simple answer to this is yes, homeopathy does not produce side effects or interfere with any medication. However, as the intention of treating you is to get you better, there may come a time when your drugs need to be reviewed. This will always be done in consultation with your doctor.
What about seeing my G.P.?
You should maintain a relationship with your G.P. Homeopathy does not aim to be diagnostic and I may advise you to visit your G.P. for tests when appropriate.
ALL INFORMATION WILL BE TREATED IN THE STRICTEST CONFIDENCE.
